Our Story

The Teacher: A lifetime of processing excellence

The Student: Learning What Really Matters

Our Promise: What You Bring In Is What You Take Home

The Partnership: Two Perspectives, One Promise

Family Values, Professional Results

My father-in-law didn't just grow up hunting; he built a career around honoring the harvest. For decades, he ran processing facilities for the nation's first and largest organic and natural meat brand, handling cattle for hundreds of thousands of customers who demanded the highest quality and strictest standards. When he moved to Montana, his reputation for precision, quality control, and uncompromising integrity followed him. Other processors in our valley still seek his advice when they face challenges with their setups. His knowledge of large-scale operations combined with artisan-level attention to detail has become legendary among hunters and processors wherever he's been.

But for him, it was never just about the business—it was about respect. Respect for the animal, respect for the hunter's effort, and respect for the tradition that connects us all.

I came to hunting later in life. I didn't grow up with a rifle in my hands or stories around the campfire. But what I lacked in childhood experience, I made up for in genuine curiosity and respect for the tradition.
When my father-in-law took me under his wing, something special happened. Here was a man eager to learn not just how to hunt, but how to do it right. How to read the land, make ethical shots, and—most importantly—how to honor every animal with proper care from field to freezer.

My Shot My Meat represents everything we believe in. We process only one animal at a time, not because it's the easiest way, but because it's the right way. We track every harvest from the moment it arrives until it's packaged and ready for your freezer.

I understand what it's like to be a newer hunter wondering if you can trust your processor. We know exactly how to deliver on that trust with decades of proven expertise.

What started as a father-in-law teaching his son-in-law became something deeper: a partnership built on shared values and complementary strengths. He brought decades of commercial processing expertise—the kind of precision and quality control that national organic brands demanded—combined with old-school craftsmanship. I brought fresh perspective and an understanding of what modern hunters really want—the guarantee that their specific harvest comes back to their table.

We're not just business partners—we're family. And we treat every hunter's harvest like it's going to feed our own family. Because in our valley, that's often exactly what it is.

When you choose My Shot My Meat, you're not just getting professional processing. You're getting the wisdom of a processing legend combined with the passion of someone who remembers what it felt like to bring home that first successful hunt.

We're hunters serving hunters. Your success is our success. Your meat is your meat.

Our Approach

The moment you bring your animal to us, it becomes part of our process - not mixed with anyone else's. We immediately tag your harvest with your unique information and ensure proper cooling if needed. This isn't just about keeping things organized; it's about honoring the effort you put into that hunt.

Every animal gets the individual attention it deserves. We inspect each harvest carefully, noting any special requests or cutting preferences you've shared with us. From the moment your animal arrives, we're thinking about how to maximize your yield and deliver exactly what your family needs. Because this isn't just meat to us - it's the culmination of your hunting season.

the prep

Your Harvest Comes Home

When it's time to process your harvest, everything stops for that animal alone. We clear our workspace, set up fresh equipment, and dedicate our complete attention to breaking down your harvest. No rushing, no shortcuts, no mixing with other hunters' animals.

Our process combines old-school craftsmanship with modern precision. Every cut is made with intention - whether you're getting steaks for special dinners, roasts for family gatherings, or ground meat for everyday meals. We clean thoroughly between each animal because your harvest deserves the same care you gave it in the field.

the process

One Animal, Complete Focus

When processing is complete, your meat is vacuum-sealed, labeled with your information, and organized exactly how you requested. Each package is clearly marked so you know exactly what you're pulling from the freezer months later.

This is the moment that makes everything worthwhile - handing you the fruits of your hunt, properly processed and ready to feed your family all season long. Every package represents not just quality meat, but the successful completion of your hunting story. From your shot in the Montana backcountry to meals around your dinner table, we've been honored to be part of that journey.

Time to enjoy your harvest

Mike D., Great Falls

"Drove 2 hours to bring my elk here after hearing about these guys from my buddy. Best decision I made all season. The whole process was transparent - they walked me through everything, sent updates, and when I picked up my meat, it was perfectly cut and packaged. These guys are the real deal."

Jake M., Kalispell

"So glad I found these guys! Brought in my bull elk - you can actually taste the difference when it's handled right from start to finish. These guys know what they're doing, and more importantly, they care about your harvest as much as you do."

Mark T., Flathead Valley

"As a newer hunter, I was nervous about trusting someone else with my first deer.  Got back beautiful steaks and perfect burger mix. My family couldn't believe how good everything tasted. Worth every penny to know you're getting your own animal back."

Payment Options

We weigh your quarters and provide you with the exact hanging weight. You'll pay $1.75 per pound based on this weight, or $175 if the weigh-in is less than 100 pounds. Payment is due at drop-off.

Bring a cooler(s) to take your meat home in.
You'll receive a detailed, itemized weight sheet showing:
Weight In: Your animal's hanging weight
Yield Weight: Packaged meat you're taking home
Bone Weight: What was removed during processing, which you can select to keep for bone broth and/or pets.
Trim Weight: Fat and unusable portions removed, which you can also select to keep for pet food or other purposes.

We accept cash, local check, or venmo.

Why hanging weight?
This is the industry standard and the fairest way to price processing. You pay for what we actually process, not an estimate. Our detailed weight sheet shows you exactly where every pound went.

Your harvest, your investment, your transparency.
That's the My Shot My Meat difference.

*Prices subject to change

We'll save your bones for rich bone broth and your organs for traditional preparations or pet food. Many hunters don't realize how much nutrition they're leaving behind - we'll make sure you get every valuable part of your animal if you want it.

Save Bones or Organs

We'll identify and save the ideal cuts for jerky making - properly trimmed and ready for you to slice and dry your way.

Jerky Cuts

We'll cross-cut your deer, elk, or moose shanks into perfect 2-inch thick osso buco portions, ideal for slow braising. These bone-in cuts make incredible winter comfort food that'll impress any dinner table.
